Light Up Your Event with DIY Light Bulb Projects

We’ve all learned in elementary school that Thomas Edison was the inventor of light bulbs, and we can’t thank him enough, right? Without this bright (no pun intended) idea, we would still be using candles to see in the dark or at night! But besides producing light and a little bit of heat, light bulbs are great DIY projects. From favors to little flower vases, these tiny light sources really are useful in every way! I’ve always been a fan of Christmas lights, but after seeing how useful light bulbs are, I might have a change of mind of my favorite kind of lighting!

Love hanging lights and mason jars? This Mason jar chandelier would be perfect to make! So if you have a bunch of empty pasta sauce jars lying around, this might be a fun activity for this weekend. The basic concept is: drill holes in the lids of the jars, wire them to light fixtures, and then attaching the jar. What I love about this chandelier is that it’s so colorful! If you’re thinking of throwing a graduation party, these favors are the perfect items to pass out. In so many cartoons, when characters have a “light bulb moment,” that means they usually had a sudden realization about something or even a great idea! What better way to tell your guests that the new graduate has many great ideas and will have a promising future? Fill these up with any kind of small candies and you’re ready to go! These are my new favorite DIY projects. I bet you didn’t know you could make a simple light bulb into an adorable little vase! Attach a leaf tag as a ribbon, and you’re all set! Who knew light bulb vases would be the perfect unique and affordable favors to hand out to your guests? And they’re great for any type of events – weddings, office parties, or you could just give them to your friends! (via Etsy: Nevastarr)

These invitations are inspired by the café lights that are becoming increasingly popular. And how cute are those heart shaped filaments! I can’t picture another way to invite your family, friends, and loved ones to attend your big day without these invitations that display your love for the one that lights up your life. Lights are bright, brilliant, illuminating, golden, and radiant. But you didn’t think they could be elegant, cute, amazing, and creative, right? With an inspired mind, I’m sure you can think of a new light bulb DIY project that will be stunning! So what are you waiting for? Let’s put on our thinking caps and get those light bulb moments happening!

  1. Light bulbs really are a fun design element for party decor! Your second picture there actually came from my “Bright Future” graduation party last year, not the person you’ve referenced –http://frogprincepaperie.com/2011/05/new-to-shop-graduation-party.html My point of inspiration was the lightbulb!
