I’m pretty proud to live in Austin, Texas, a city that is often recognized as the home of the food truck. Within a couple of miles, hungry University of Texas students and Austin residents can find everything from burgers to pierogis to cupcakes to crepes, all served on wheels. Needless to say, I was delighted when I started to see food trucks popping up at weddings and events all over the country! Here are some of my favorite ways food trucks can spice up your wedding or special event.
Well, for starters, who wouldn’t want an adorable wedding day picture like this? Typically, with food truck catering, guests can order from a delicious set menu made up of the truck’s signature items (which can range from barbecue to vegan–look up your city to find out what’s near you!), and then collect their meal from a buffet table or counter. Easy, interactive, and delicious! Picture via Justin Lee Photography.
I honestly cannot think of a more perfect solution to catering an at-home wedding or large event! For all the brides dreaming of a Father of the Bride or Steel Magnolias style wedding, a food truck instantly solves the problems of food storage, a too-small kitchen, not enough appliances, and so on. I love this idea for event catering as well–I know I would be thrilled if my favorite food truck showed up at my birthday party! Pictures via Austin Gros Wedding Photography.
Of course, I had to include an Austin truck in this round up! Hey Cupcake is a beloved cupcake food truck here in Austin, and they bring their confectionery creations to weddings and events all over the city. Dessert is even sweeter when it’s brought freshly to your door, and your guests will love the nostalgic ice-cream-truck-esque feel of going to get their treats from a truck. Pictures via The Nichols.
Speaking of ice cream trucks! This bride and groom has not one, not two, but three fabulous food trucks at their beautiful wedding, and Cool Haus, a popular ice cream sandwich food truck in Los Angeles (they also have trucks in New York, Miami, and Austin), was the finishing touch. This is just one example of a delicious, fun, and unique dessert that can be served on wheels–crepes, macarons, and even pie pops are a few of the others! Picture via Erich Chen Photography.

Great Pics! FOOD TRUCK at a wedding? A Novel Idea! Since this is new in Atlanta, I can see it becoming a FAD at the right spots!!
