You’ve jut got to love a place that’s situated near the Westside shoreline of LA, Tucked away near the legendary “Muscle Beach” and famous Ferris wheel of Santa Monica Pier. Here lies the majestic Ritz Carlton Marina Del Rey. Our dear friends chose California as their wedding destination, with the Ritz at Marina Del Rey our hotel of choice for a private pre-wedding vacation. You just might get to see a celebrity or two arriving Hollywood style get out of their luxury cars to enjoy a three day relaxing weekend there. In fact, as I got on the elevator to go up to my floor I was greeted by the legendary Charles Barkley! Located only a hop, skip and jump from the famous LAX airport, this 4 1/2 hour plane ride from Atlanta to hotel offers all the bells and whistles one might seek from a hip wedding or honeymoon destination.
A typical day at the Ritz in Marina Del Rey included waking up to an amazing view of the marina from our private balcony. Breakfast, lunch and munchies were served continuously throughout the day from the Club Level, which proved to be our oasis within the hotel. We explored the waterside cafes, bars and boutiques ogling over the impressive array of local artists wares. Fisherman’s Village was the perfect destination for our afternoon bike ride. Our favorite hot shopping spot was the Promenade in Santa Monica. The talented street musicians peppered each street corner with songs of yesteryear reminiscent of the 60′s and 70′s California hippie movement. Upon our return we slipped into our bathing suits and enjoyed a relaxing swim in the eco-friendly waterfront heated saltwater pool and whirlpool. We rounded out our picture perfect day at the Spa Chakra complete with body treatments, eucalyptus steam room and vitamin C-infused showers after which we were more than ready for bed.
The 304 room property offers a plethora of amenities for any special event including the small and intimate Juliette balconies with IMAX views of the marina and city skyline, two junior ballrooms, and onsite multi-media department for inspiring video presentations. A lush and beautiful rose garden with cascading waterfalls was onsite for the most intimate gathering. We dined alfresco that evening at the Michelin recommended jer-ne restaurant and bar complete with our resident celebrity Charles Barkley.
Phil and I loved the beautiful natural setting at the Ritz Carlton Marina Del Rey. With it’s picturesque harbor views, warm hospitality and world class accommodations, this magnificent property offers anyone seeking a gold standard level of comfort the perfect blend of old world luxury and Hollywood glam that we enjoyed so much.
