Decorating Details: Bring on the Buttons!

There is no decorating idea or concept that we won’t explore here at Occasions. In fact, it’s the daily variety and seemingly hourly influx of new a creative ideas that makes this job — and your job of planning an event — so much fun! Take today for example. Chances are you’re wearing a button somewhere on your person, but what about carrying a big bunch of those down the aisle? What about putting them in your hair? Sounds crazy, but take a look at the images we’ve scouted out below….it’s so crazy that it just might work.

What do you think?

Many of you shared your opinions on the somewhat controversial brooch bouquet. The button bouquet is similar in appearance, and they two could even be mixed together. It’s certainly an unorthodox look, but surprisingly elegant. What’s you’re take on this bouquet from Etsy shop Letters4Lilly?

Now these boutonnieres from ruffledblog.com are really cute if you ask me. I love the pheasant feathers mixed in, and it’s a nice departure from baby’s breath and a rosebud. I also think that the buttons lend themselves to subtle color addition; speaking of, how about that color palette? I love the light blue, yellow, red and brown. Lovely fall combo!

When I saw this ring bearer pillow from blog.craftzine.com I thought 1. The buttons were totally age appropriate 2. The concept is completely adaptable to different colors, and  3. This is Willy Wonka’s wedding pillow…in a good way! Youthful and fun!

And back to the other end of the spectrum, this wedding cake from ericaobrien.com has only a few robins egg blue buttons strategically placed here and there for a hint of color. If you like the buttons, but would prefer something a little less bold, this look is for you, whimsical and sophisticated.

Finally, these napkin ring holders from blogs.babble.com would be precious at almost any event. You might even be able to recruit some kiddos to help with assembly…just an idea!! It’s a great example of taking the most minor of details and coordinating it to the rest of your party. Attach name cards to each and you’ve made you’re seating chart, too!
