The Notebook and Carnival Themed Engagement Shoot

Everyone has their favorite love story. Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight (Team Jacob!). One story of romance that has engrossed readers for almost two decades is Nicholas Sparks’ The Notebook. One of Sparks’ most popular novels, The Notebook hit the big screen in 2004, bringing the romance of Noah Calhoun and Allie Hamilton to life and capturing the hearts of fans old and new. How did Allie and Noah’s love story begin? In the year 1940 at a colorful South Carolina carnival where Noah first caught sight of Allie and was immediately smitten. And for couple Lizzy and Kevin, who instantaneously fell head over heels in much the same way, a 1940s carnival style engagement shoot inspired by The Notebook was the perfect direction to take. From the bright red candy apples to the glowing ferris wheel, the day was full of fun, color and summertime romance! Hop on a carousel with these photos by Set Free Photography.

Tell us how you met…
Kevin and I met at a bar in St. Augustine on Saint Patrick’s day 2012. It was love at first sight and we have been going strong since the first day we met. Kevin and I are both Physical Therapists who were attending the same school for over a year and had never met before. Both of us swore we would never date another physical therapist let alone marry one. From the first day we met we knew that there was a higher power at play. Kevin and I knew right away that we had found our missing piece. Kevin proposed on December 28th, 2012 and although we are currently living and working in Ft. Myers, Florida we plan to get married in St. Augustine, Florida where we met.

Now for the proposal… details!
Kevin proposed after work on December 28th 2012. He surprised me as I was leaving our condo to walk the dog and meet him outside like I usually did when he got off because at the time I had our only key to get into the building. He was wearing a hat and a wig so i didn’t recognize him right away. Here I was with a stranger down on one knee with a ring. Once it settled in what was actually happening I was ecstatic and of course I said Yes. It was quite the unconventional proposal but Kevin is quite unconventional himself. I never know what to expect with Kevin and it his random and hilarious personality that makes him unique. This is one of the many characteristics that I love about Kevin.

Can you give us an overview of the event?
