Set upon many magnificently wooded acres near Stone Mountain in Gwinnett County, Vecoma is
the perfect location for weddings, corporate events, receptions, banquets and dances.
Early in the 1920’s, Cotton Mather’s furniture business had flourished enough so that he, his wife
Venie, and their four daughters could afford a retreat away from the bustle of Atlanta. To ensure
privacy, Mather purchased property on both sides of the Yellow River. As early as 900 B.C. this land
formed part of the extensive native American southern trading route. Later it became the place of
countless baptisms as well as a bivouac point for both Confederate and Union forces during 1864
and 1865.
In 1927 Venie and Cotton Mather completed a 6-sided cabin made entirely of stone and wood
taken from the property. The lodge was named Vecoma, combining the first two letters of each of
their names. The foundation and chimney of this family relic still remain next to the new reception
hall built in 1996. The large deck on the back of the hall overlooks the woods, lawn and river. Many
couples have chosen this site for their wedding and reception. It is rich in history and natural beauty.
Today, the family of Venie and Cotton Mather invite you to enjoy Vecoma as you celebrate your
own historic and special event. As you walk the grounds, you can see the foundations of the old
farm, the Yellow River; and you might even get a glimpse of deer and other wildlife that inhabit the
densely wooded land.

Our daughter got married at Vecoma on NOV 1ST. The event planners, photographer, DJ, and all the staff are so fabulous. Patient, kind, efficient and sooooo helpful. I cannot say enough good adjectives about them. And what a beautiful venue. It is without a doubt the most beautiful venue in the Atlanta area. We feel so lucky that we found this place! I really like the beautiful outside with all the trees and by the Yellow River. It is like this gorgeous private park. And it is beautiful all around, front, back, side etc. with lots of parking space. And I especially like how the main area inside is one huge room with a beautiful fireplace if you want wedding inside. And a large dance floor and lots of room for tables. It makes it so much nicer to have everyone in same huge room so you do not miss anything. I do not like how a lot of the wedding venues have these little choppy rooms and you miss a lot of things. The wedding planners decorated so beautifully too. And there is a large covered porch outside where you can see the beautiful scenery too. And the food was delicious! We had a wonderful wedding because of Vecoma and their staff and we so appreciate them!

A perfect retreat-like atmosphere for the most special of occasions. Step outside on the large deck and listen to the yellow river flowing by. It's hard to believe you're not nestled deep in the mountains. A well seasoned and organized staff, convenient parking and great location make this a perfect place for your next reception or meeting.

Vecoma was a beautiful place to have our private wedding. We had the venue and grounds to ourselves, which we think is so much nicer than sharing our wedding with strangers....say at a golf course or hotel. The staff was wonderful! They treated us with such kindness and enthusiasm. I would highly recommend Vecoma to those planning a special event or even an offsite meeting. You won't go wrong.

We are so happy that we found Vecoma on the Yellow River for my daughter's Nov 1, 2009 wedding. The place is beautiful, inside and out. Gorgeous scenery outside and looks like a park. The inside has a huge room with lovely decorations and I like that no one left out like many places with little chopped up rooms. Everyone got to be part of all the festivities. The wedding planners were so helpful, kind and efficient and took off a lot of the weight on my shoulders from being Mother of the Bride. Everything went smoothly because of them. The staff were all wonderful and helpful, from the wait staff to the bartender and the DJ. The food was delicious and presented beautifully. And what a talented photographer Caroline is. My daughter's wedding album is breathtaking.

Vecoma at the Yellow River is just PERFECT!! My husband & I had such an amazing evening that we didn't want it to end. All of our guests could not stop telling my parents what a wonderful time they were having. Vecoma's staff goes above and beyond. The food is delicious and very well priced. The grounds are breath taking and absolutley perfect for wedding photos. The sound of the river during the wedding really adds to the beauty of being outside. There is plenty of room and the price simply can't be beat! We enjoyed our wedding so much and really have this place in our hearts as special. We are actually having our daughter's dedication there in a couple of weeks! We are excited to have another PERFECT DAY and bring all of our family and friends together again to share in our memories!
