This real wedding all the way from Vancouver, BC and shot by Jamie Delaine Photography is just what the doctor ordered on this cold, drizzly Atlanta morning. Positively bursting with color and vivaciousness, this lavish ceremony with rev your inspiration engine in no time! And not only are the details beautiful — and intricate! — but the couple isn’t so hard on the eyes, either. Grab your lunch, sit back, and enjoy!

Can you give us an overview of the event?: The Henna Party- Held in the Stanley Park Pavilion, Vancouver BC. Traditionally, the sister of the bride hosts a party for the brides and her friends to adorn themselves with henna, sing, dance.

Was there a specific theme or style?: We kept it very traditional, colorful and fun!

What were your playful twists that made the event unique?: Friends and family got together to dance and perform a skit of how we met.

Describe your wedding in one-two sentences so that someone who didn’t attend can envision it.: It was a colorful, elaborate, traditional ceremony

What was the most memorable moment?: The most memorable moment was when the performed a musical skit of how we met and how our love story evolved.

We want to know about all the wedding details.  Was it small and intimate or big and traditional?: It was a big traditional wedding with a couple of pre wedding events in Vancouver, a wedding ceremony at my parents house in West Vancouver, followed by a reception in Fairmont Vancouver and one in Danville Kentucky, USA.

If there was one thing you could change, what would it be?: The entire event was very well planned. I would try and get more pictures with family members.

Tell us about your wedding gown and what your wedding party wore.: I wore two different wedding dresses on the wedding day. I opted for a white, cream traditional indian dress in the morning for the religious ceremony that I made with a designer in Pakistan. I opted for aa more fashion current asian outfit for the evening reception. I also made this with a designer called sans & safinaz that are based in Pakistan and London. They did a wonderful job of the outfit. I shopped in India for my bridesmaids for the reception, My immediate family all wore Sana & Safinaz designs.

Tell us how you met.  Was it love at first sight, blind date, friends forever? We want to know the particular!: We were connected through family and one evening my roommate added my husband on Facebook as a joke. When he accepted, I retracted by saying I had added him on to ask him questions about the medical school he had attended. It was a causal message that turned into a  2 year conversation! We have not gone without talking to each other one day since that first phone call!

What was the best wedding advice you received?: Its all about the shoes.

Now for the proposal… details!: I was in my second year of medical school, doing a semester in  Manipal, India and he came to visit me for a weekend. We went to the beach for a relaxing afternoon, and he proposed to me there with warm indian beer and a beautiful diamond necklace. I thought it was a joke, and I said, are you serious?

What were the honeymoon plans?: We went to Europe for our honeymoon.  We went to France and Italy.
